Update: I just tested something; its actually pretty comfortable to curl up in the 60/40 bench seat if I fold it down. I may just do that.

Kinja'd!!!

I am currently pulling an all-nighter working on homework. I got about 10 hours of sleep yesterday from 7am-5pm (I know my sleep cycle is screwed up). How weird would it be of me to stick a twin mattress in my truck bed with the shell on and take a nap on the top floor of my school’s parking garage in my truck? I have an hour and a half in between classes today and I will be at school from 10am-10pm. So I could use a little nap time.

Kinja'd!!!

I could always just sleep in the cab, but comfort is comfort. I just dont wanna be too weird about it.

doing the same thing right now lol, i think it really depends on how high your truck is, how remote the parking is, the size/amount of windows and if theyre tinted... bastically how many passerbys would notice..

Why not, it’s a great idea. A friend had a Renault Scénic (small minivan) and he always had an inflatable matress in the trunk for when he couldn’t drive.

If you have an inflatable matress go ahead!

Do it! Tohru made a post a while ago about doing just this for his overnight accommodations at the Chicago auto show, some pretty solid tips. If I weren’t in my slow phone I’d link you.

There be advantages to having a vehicle with a bed. Do it, just make sure your shell has a very dark tint.

My father in law does this.

He sleeps in the back of his truck during ski season when he doesn’t want to drive home from Winter Park, CO.

He always knows which corner of which parking garage is best for this.

He lives in Frisco. An hour and fifteen min away. He is 75 years old.

I used to setup a hammock in my work van and take naps for my lunch break, it typically worked out really nice.

Having tried to sleep in the plastic one-piece bucket seat in my MR2 before, that looks amazingly comfortable.

I used to nap in one of the student centers. Lots of people did it. Comfy chairs.

There should be some slot things in the bed so you can carry 4x8 above the wheel wells. I’d cut a 2x6 to the proper length, cover them with a sheet of 3/4 ply, not particle board, and find a cheap solid foam mattress, and cut it to length. Should leave you plenty of space underneath, as well.

i would jsut throw the matress on the truck bed, without the bed furniture, that way, you can entirely close the truck with your shell. and maybe also acces a little easier and faster when the shell is on.
